1- Shredded Cheese

Buy cheese in bulk. Divide it into smaller freezer safe bags. Shredded cheese is the best to be used. It defrosts quickly. It might be hard to believe but shredded cheese can last for 6 to 8 months in the freezer.

2- Homemade Pancakes or Waffles

Do you ever do this- throw away the breakfast leftovers? There is a great method to save these delicious mouth-watering pancakes. Use a baking sheet as a single layer and then wrap them in plastic wrap with a layer of wax or parchment paper in between each. Now, slid them into zipper-proof top bags and freeze for up to 2 months. Defrost them and heat them in a microwave whenever you crave for one.

3- Fresh Herbs

You can take any herb and roughly chop it. Fill an ice cube tray with 1 tablespoon of the herb into each compartment. Fill the sections with little broth, water, or olive oil and freeze. After these herby ice cubes are frozen, take them, place them into a zipper proof plastic bag. Seal them well. These can last up to 2 months. If you wish to use, take out the desired cubes and defrost them well. Sadly, they cannot be used as garnish but their texture will be affected. One may use them as dressings and marinades and more.

4- Tomato Paste

This is tough. Sometimes you may only need one tablespoon of tomato paste and end up buying the whole pack. Scrape all the tomato paste into a freezer proof bag. Release the air, and freeze. One can use this for as long as 6 months. Heat it whenever required and it will blend in no time.

5- Cooked Grains

Freeze the grains into small containers or bags. The frozen grains can last for about 3 months. May be add them frozen to the dish or defrost in the refrigerator itself before use.
